SBI Investment Portfolio Company Arum Therapeutics Co-Develops Orexin Drug with Celltrion… Targeting Phase 1 Trial in the Second Half of Next Year
- Arum Therapeutics, an SBI Investment portfolio company and biotech venture, is co-developing with Celltrion a new drug that acts as an agonist of OX2R (orexin 2 receptor), which is involved in regulating sleep and wakefulness.
- In January, the two companies jointly filed an international patent application for ‘novel orexin 2 receptor agonists and uses thereof’ (with the international application filed in July last year). The program is currently in the preclinical stage, and they are preparing to enter a Phase 1 trial in the second half of next year.
- Although its orexin-class program trails global leaders such as Takeda Pharmaceutical and Eli Lilly in development stage, Arum Therapeutics plans to accelerate further development through its collaboration with Celltrion.
