SBI Investment Portfolio Company Dot Develops Tactile Display ‘Dot Pad’… Solving a 50-Year Challenge and Targeting Global Markets
- After about seven years of research, Dot, an SBI Investment portfolio company developing accessibility technology for people with visual impairments, has developed ‘Dot Pad,’ an electromagnetic tactile display that reduces size, weight, power consumption and price to one-tenth or less of conventional piezoelectric displays.
- Expanding its lineup from ‘Dot Watch,’ a braille smartwatch launched in 2017, to ‘Dot Vista,’ an AI-based solution, the company grew revenue roughly tenfold from KRW 1.4 billion in 2021 to KRW 13.1 billion in 2024. It supplies products to some 40 countries, including under a five-year, KRW 30 billion supply contract with the U.S. Department of Education.
- Selected as a pre-unicorn in 2024 and valued at approximately KRW 186 billion, Dot is pursuing a KOSDAQ listing through the technology-based special listing track while planning to expand into emerging markets such as India and Africa from the second half of the year.
