SBI Investment Portfolio Company MOBILTECH Builds a Virtual Test Platform for Military Unmanned Vehicles with the Agency for Defense Development

  • MOBILTECH, an SBI Investment portfolio company in physical AI, is participating in the Agency for Defense Development's (ADD) project to ‘develop advanced virtual test environment technology for the test and evaluation of unmanned autonomous vehicles,’ building a platform that verifies the performance of military unmanned autonomous vehicles in a virtual environment. The project runs through April 2028 and aims to reduce the cost and safety constraints of real-vehicle testing while improving the reliability of autonomous driving algorithms.
  • MOBILTECH plans to create a digital twin of the approximately 10 km test track at ADD's Changwon Test Center, reflecting actual road surface contours and the soil characteristics of unpaved terrain, and to reproduce in the virtual environment vehicle sensors such as cameras and LiDAR as well as various weather conditions such as rain, snow and fog. At the ‘Defense AX Hub opening ceremony’ held in Pangyo on the 12th, it showcased ‘Replica City,’ its proprietary virtual test platform that recreates real terrain and facilities as high-precision 3D environments.
  • CEO Kim Jae-seung said, “Using digital twin and simulation technologies, we will build an environment in which autonomous driving functions and performance can be verified before real-world testing, and advance the test and evaluation infrastructure that supports the development of physical AI for defense.” The company plans to expand its simulation business into various fields, including defense, ports, parking and urban areas.
